Keeping just Recording of sound from a video - - -

The software that I quoted can be used to cut the video at the point in the video and then export as MP3.

I have done that - thanks for the tips!

Free software called Audacity is excellent for the job.

The free media player can do this happily - I often use it for this.

Under the "Media" menu, there is "Convert/Save".

In there, use the "+" button and add the video file to the list.

Click on the "Convert/Save" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Adjust the "Profile" to be an Audio format, such as "Audio - MP3".

Give a name for the "Destination file".

Click on "Start".

The main window of VLC shows a progress bar.

Thanks folks - after the help given a couple of weeks ago I managed to successfully convert to MP3.

I will keep referring to this thread if I have to do it again.  Not doing it often enough to keep it in my memory!    .
