Note ve. Rt Rev Robert Maunsell went to New Zealand, married secondly Beatrice Isabella Duncan Paton. He became the Archdeacon of Auckland. Lots online about him.

I don’t have much on son George though.

As an aside Rev Henry Rose was distantly related to the Maunsell family.

On Ancestry
History of the family of Maunsell (Mansell, Mansel)

Outlines the family. Needs verifying though as it was researched many years ago but it is largely correct.

Mary’s marriage says George is ‘late of this county’, so was George dead by 1827 or had he moved.
Definitely not George of Milford if her father was dead and doesn’t sound good for Milford either if he had moved.
Looks like you were correct and the only chance of finding the correct George is the church register.
There is an ongoing project to put COI registers online, but when this will be completed or if St.Mary’s will be included is anyone’s guess at the moment.

Yes, Sinann, I wondered about the wording of the marriage report as well.   George Maunsell
of Milford died in 1835.  There is a news report of 11th Sept. 1830 in the Dublin Evening Post
noting that George Maunsell, late Collector of Limerick has debts and schedule of same may be
applied for.   I have not read the complete article on FindMyPast only the extract.  It appears he has
resigned from his position as Collector on a yearly pension of 1,500 pounds which reverted to the
Crown upon his death.  So it is possible that he left Limerick prior to this news report of 1830
possibly around the time of Mary's wedding and the wording refers to this.  The question needs
to be asked as to how much credence should be given to a newspaper report and its wording.
It is far more convincing to have church records that confirm or refute any hypothesis.

It would appear that his money issues may have persisted as his will of 1834 retracts earlier
settlements of 6,000 pounds for each of his children and reduces that amount to 2,000 pounds,
so he was not completely penniless!  Considering that the Griffiths valuation of Milford House,
his residence, was  only 25 pounds his monetary assets were considerable.  He jointly owned
a private bank in Dublin in partnership with 2 of his brothers.
