If I've not bored you already ... please bear with.  There appears to be three possibilities for 'our' Joseph.

We've got Joseph Platt in '81 living in Everton with Margaret Ann Platt aged 40, Margaret Ann Platt aged 7 and Elizabeth Alice Platt aged 4.  Address is 78 Buckingham Street, Everton.  He states he was born in Manchester.

We've got Joseph Platt's death aged 41 at 3 Cowslip Court, Hulme.  He was a labourer (cornmill labour in the '81).

Going back to the 1871, there a Joseph Platt born Manchester in 1849 as a general servant in a drapers store.  I don't now feel that's the right person.  Can't find an appropriate Joseph in the 1861 either.

Births of a Joseph Platt were Q4 1850 to Joseph and Ellen (Brown) in Manchester.
Or Joseph and Anne 3 March 1849 in Manchester and
Joseph and Margaret baptised 26 January 1851 Kersley/Hearsley in Ringley.

Can anyone help?

In the '91, Margaret Platt, widow, born Chester in '36 with Margaret A Platt, 1874 Liverpool, Elizabeth, 1877 Manchester, Emma, 1886 Manchester and John William Vernon, boarder, 1871 Blackley all living at 3 Cowslip Court.

In the 1871 census Joseph is a servant, born 1849 in Manchester
