4th Cousin Twice Removed 75 cm result
« on: Tuesday 16 January 24 08:16 GMT (UK) »
Should I be looking for another connection with a 75 cm result where the family tree line puts relationship at 4th cousin twice removed? My 1st cousin also shares DNA with this person but at half my result. I'd appreciate views on this. Thanks

Painter gives a 3% chance of that relationship

Have you looked at the other matches that you share?

DNA is not inherited uniformly it is more a random process hence a sizeable difference in cM can result between known family members.

It is not always that easy to conclude as there could also be a pedigree collapse in a line that you do not share with your known Cousin but do share with the 75cM match.

I have a similar result.  I have a 364cM match to me yet two of their First Cousins only share 91cM & 113cM with me, it is still a WIP resolving.

The mutual matches should give you an indication of whether the connection is up another line.

How many segments?
