Hi

Hoping that someone might be able to help in tracing the birth registration, and/or on the 1939 register.
Malcolm Melvin Francis born on the 26th May 1926 - Cinderford, Gloucester
died Worcester 1969.

Information taken from his death certificate.

Where does he fit in to your tree  :-\

Death certificate information is often wrong as dependant on the knowledge of the informant.  Who was the informant

He was buried in a double grave 5th January 1970 age 43 - died 30 Dec 1969

Hi

He is the grandfather of a friend of mine.
He and his grandmother never married - she was the informant - Gladys Evelyn Garrett (nee Jukes).
Both now deceased.
Evelyn married James Garrett in Staffordshire in 1947, but left the family home around 5 years later.

I suspect he was born under a different surname - possibly illegitimate perhaps?

Gloucester Citizen 5th March 1947

Prison for Theft of Car in Glo-ster

'Sentence of nine months imprisonment passed on Malcolm Francis(20) of Speculation Cottage, Cannop Road, Near Lydbrook, pleaded guilty of stealing a car at Gloucester on February 10th.

P.C. Mills said that Francis who had been born at Cinderford, had been using the name of Jones and that last December he had solen a car in Gloucester and was bound over for three years, there were three cases of stealing other cars and one case of taking petrol.'

Another offence reported Gloucester Citizen 30th January 1948

Malcolm Francis(21) of Speculation Cottage,Lydbrook stole a lorry from Gloucester, was arrested in Birmingham. He was sentenced to twelve months for the lorry stealing and a further twelve months for other offences to run concurrently.
