Missing Birth for James Park 1893/4
« on: Tuesday 16 January 24 15:05 GMT (UK) »
Although this Baptism implies he was born 2 January 1894 as James Park Park that agrees 1911 Census
But there is no Trace of his Birth
When he Enlisted 2 November 1914 he stated aged 21 not 20 and only as James Park
When he Married in August 1924 to Annie Preston he stated he was 31 not 30 and only as James Park
I am of the Opinion that those on 1911 Census that had brought him up from Birth as their Son but my Opinion is that he was born out of wedlock of a Relative that was taken in as Son and again with Thomas on 1911 Census born 1902 but no Birth Registration?

Is he with those parents in 1901 as a son? **

There are a few mistakes on the sheet you posted, not sure the double Park is meant to be a middle name - just put in the wrong place like the second baptism down.  The middle name has been crossed through like the second baptism.

** Is he down as James Hughes with the Hughes family only they have a father in law James Park with them?  His birth could be under Hughes and there was a change of name  :-\

Yes
I am of the Opinion he was taken in as their Son in 1893 from a Relative who had him out of wedlock
I think they had him Baptised January 1894 as theirs
Shown as Son on 1901 and 1911 Census
I think in 1914 he knew his real age when he Enlisted- he had no reason to lie about his Age to enlist and say he was older nor the same when he Married in 1924
The 1911 Census says he was one of 10 born of Park/Hughes but I can only find 5 and not Him or Thomas

There are 6 Hughes children listed in 1901.  Would guess they had older children who were out of the home by then.

Isabella 14
Agnes 11
Mary E 9
James 7
Alice 5
Wm 11 months

Were they all registered as Hughes?

There's a James Park born Bootle Mar 1893 with no mothers maiden name - have you checked him out?

Oh dear 1891 is even more of a mixture of Hughes/Park offspring, I can see why there is a problem  :-\

He is James Park Park on the 1911 census.

But you’re right, it looks like it’s crossed through on the baptism entry.
