By coincidence, I just renewed on the 40% discount offer, and came to make a new thread about it.

I'll just add to this one.

My old sub expired 27 Nov 2023.

Ditto, I’ve just renewed on the 40% discount offer  :)

My old sub also expired 27 Nov 2023
Sounds like they may have a 2 months window for "lapsed" status.

I complained to FindMyPast about the unfairness of giving 40% discounts to recently lapsed customers, while only giving 15% to loyal customers on auto renewal. In response they have offered me 40% off my next renewal.

TBH I think they are all desperate to keep us. Yesterday I cancelled MyHeritage so it didn't autorenew on 14 June and was immediately offered a 60% discount to continue; I didn't take them up on it.

I recommend that no one lets any susbscription site autorenew.

You've done pretty well to get 60% off MyHeritage that quickly. I cancelled my sub in the middle of December last. First offer was I think 15% off, and I was invited to renew at 32% off yesterday. Still sitting on the sidelines though, as the subscription that I've just let lapse was taken out at 75% off (Complete sub for £57) after cancelling and ignoring other offers for 6 months.

Wow - 40% off!!! :o

I subscribed to FindMyPast for the first time on Black Friday (i.e. Nov 2023) and, with a 25% discount, the Premium sub cost  £149.99.

Everything I'd seen online up until then suggested that's when they gave the best discount, and it's been ages since I last saw them give more than 25% off (if I ever did).

The discount I received was, I guess, the best available to non-subscribers (and I was quite pleased with it)...but now I'm a subscriber, the information in this thread will hopefully prove very useful.

So my thanks to everyone that contributed - I now have a plan for next time! ;D

40% is good going, the misers at FindMyPast only offer a token discount when I rang them as a new potential subscriber.

My Heritage, not worth a bag of peanuts after one has had a month Subscription.

Ancestry at £89.99 for Worldwide is IMO still the best value.

Yes - but I need(1) access to the BNA, so I either need a FindMyPast sub or a BNA sub.

BNA for a year is £100, so FindMyPast Premium for only 20 quid more is an easy choice.

Thank you all very much for passing on your information. I contacted FindMyPast & mentioned they had offered other subscribers 40% off & that I felt the 15% & then 25% off they had offered was unfair as I had been with FindMyPast for over 10 years. I got an email straight back offering 40% off & would I like to upgrade to Premium, so at that price I did  ;D
