I have a directory listing of Thomas Wright at Yardley Street, Clerkenwell in 1840, but not having any luck finding him on the census.

Any idea which census return I should look on for Yardley Street?

If you search for Joseph Orange dob 1810 you should find him in Yardley Street in Clerkenwell in the 1841 census. I chose him because of the unusual name but he happens to be a cabinet maker. No idea if Thomas Wright is there, I left that for you.

Hi,

If you have a FindMyPast membership you can search the census by address,

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/search-address

I couldn't see him there but I could have missed him.

Hi
Have you spotted the Thomas Wright cabinet maker born 1817 who is convicted of bigamy in 1845.
He married Lydia Emery 16.3.1845 Shoreditch.
His father is William a wheel wright .He says he is a bachelor and a chair maker but the indictment says cabinet maker .
One of the witnesses is a Matilda Wright.
Just curious ,is it the same chap you are looking for?

From one of your other threads:
Quote
Then when Edwin was convicted in 1840, Thomas was at Anchor St in Bethnal Green in London, aged 65.

In Anchor Street in the 1841 census:

Thos Wright 65 Chair Maker N
Mary do 65 N
Eliza do 30 N
