Useful advice Rena RTL and for many others of us I would think.

A technique I favour is box breathing, I'm sure RTL will be familiar with this. I've found it useful in staving off imminent panic attacks.

I surfed for the information - I see that box breathing is something I've done at junior school and then years later at keep fit classes :-)

How to do Box Breathing
Step 1: Breathe in, counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs.
Step 2: Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Try to avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds.
Step 3: Slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you feel re-centered.

Box or square breathing is an exercise used by my choir and other singers in our warm up session every week.  We start with 4 breaths and work up to counting up to 8.  It's to exercise our lungs and control breathing in our case, but also to focus the mind.

Thanks Viktoria.
I wasn't planning to but I went to a 'higher up' today and explained  family member's recent setback, stress and my considering seeing the doc about not being able to sleep, etc.  I say I need a break but holiday isn't till four weeks.  This person says they hadn't known they have been off on holiday for past 10 days.  I think alright for some.  This person sounded quite sympathetic and says "Let me look at the rota for you".  They look at the rota with a look of deep concentration and I started to feel a bit hopeful ..  then they said "You could have Tuesday off".
I think, really are you serious!? :o  Why do I even bother opening my mouth!?  Well I have declined that suggestion, so that's that.  It's definitely going to be a four week wait.  Actually, today wasn't too bad once I got going and the second bus was warm and cosy on way home.  I almost didn't want to get off.

RTL,  you must have felt like screaming! But at least now they can't say they weren't aware. Pleased to hear yesterday wasn't as bad as anticipated, hope you had a good sleep when you got home.

I second L.M’s and Roobarb’s  posts.
But don’t forget to make a Dr’s appointment ,they may say very differently .
Hope you don’t have to wait too long but at least you will see a Dr then have more ammunition.
In the meantime get some good Vitamin C. abd Vitamin D tablets ,they are really god pick me ups so I hope they will be good pick you ups too .
Speak to the Pharmacist ,you can take quite high doses of those two safely .
They help in these dark days when our Melatonin is very low, I feel much better when taking them ,in fact I do all year round but more in Winter.
When you do get to your Dr, mention about taking them ,you may get prescribed a much higher dose so may be in prescription.
Best wishes ,—- do you want me to come round and “ tackle “ your boss?

Tackle in Lancashire means sort them out in no uncertain terms ——
Cheerio and best wishes.
Viktoria .

Like others RTL I agree with their words… quite incredulous that the boss thought one day off would do the trick!
Pleased though to hear things weren’t too bad for you and at least a warm bus to make your journey better.
I hope you get a Drs appt soon and they are able to give you some help.
We’re all thinking about you and wish that we could do something more positive than words..
Like Viktoria I’d be quite happy to ‘tackle’ your boss..

Take care and you know there are many people on RC that are here for you.
