Finding Henry?
« on: Tuesday 23 January 24 19:08 GMT (UK) »
1841 census from Shifnal has Michael Ellis, his 2 sons and a Henry age 5. Michaels wife Sarah died in 1829, so ob Henry is not his son. Their relationship isnt shown on census which is a shame because it would help a lot with my tree. I cant see a death for Henry nor find him in 2851, neither can i see a birth for Henry 1836. Thanks for any help

I note he was not born in County

Did Michael have any daughters. Could he be an illegitimate grandson?
(Or a legitimate one to an older son)

Added…also, it’s not Michael and his two sons.  One is a daughter, Maria.

I was going to post similar suggestions - here's a list of children baptised to Michael & Sarah. A few possible parents here

Emmah Ellis   19 Jan 1812
Thomas Ellis 17 Mar 1816
Philip Ellis  6 Sep 1818
William Ellis 3 Dec 1820
Michael Ellis 10 Aug 1823
Maria Ellis 3 Jul 1825
Mary Ellis 3 Jan 1830

Have a look at this 1851 census in Wolverhampton. Henry Ellis is showing as the nephew of Thomas Ellis and born in London. If this Thomas Ellis is the Thomas Ellis listed above as a son of Michael and Sarah this suggests that Henry must be the son of another sibling in the list.

Also worth noting that when you look at the original  living next door to Thomas Ellis is Michael Ellis age 27, born Shifnal.

I think I see Emma in Shifnal age 30 in 1841. Female servant.

Where is she in 1851

No idea why Henry would be born in London when his family are in Shifnal. I,ll have to troll through the London births to see if anything comes up
