William Henry and Bryce Henry
« on: Wednesday 24 January 24 06:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi all. This is my first post and I make my request on behalf of my wife. What has piqued our interest is that my wife is related back to Bryce Henry, his wife Eliza and their son William Henry b c 1852 and his wife Maggie McAuley all from Dunsilly.

In this Forum 23 April 17, there was a posting by Ab196 on this topic to which there was a reply from Imgnz. The people and their families I would like to know about was in Imgnz' last paragraph where she made mention of the Henry family from Dunsilly and she "had details of the family of my Bryce Henry and his wife Eliza Ewing".

We too have a great interest in this family as my wife is a direct descendant to them. Bryce and Eliza had a son, William who married Maggie McAuley. One of their nine children was Bryce Henry who came to Brisbane on the Orotava 1908 and then onto NZ where he became a Policeman in 1911. He is my wife's grandfather.

Any information about the earlier ancestors would be very much appreciated.

Thank you Neale for alerting me to this post.

I will look at the post which I made in Co Down though our bryce henry was in Dunsilly Antrim. It was only when I found that Bryce was part of the Henry family from Shanrod Co Down that I posted there.

Yes I know Bryce Henry         b 22  May 1889   m 1915 (NZ) Violet Ellen Parlett and died 1948

My gt grandmother born Dunsilly was a granddaughter of Bruce Henry born c180 2 and she came to NZ with my grandfather in 1905.

Cheers

Linda

Hi Sibbie

I have tried to send you a personal message. I think you may need to post another time before you can repy by personal message which is where we can exchange email addresses.

In the meanitime I think the thread you saw was my Antrim post when I was trying to expand the Henry family beyond Bryce Henry of Dunsilly born 1802 at Shanrod Co Down. These are his parents and siblings. The * show the lines in which I have DNA matches in Ancestry

Family of Brice Henry (1773-1852) and Mary Nelson (1772-1850)
James Henry      b Jun 1798   d 1849      m Mary Nelson
Agnes Henry      b c1801         m R Allen
*    Bryce Henry      b c1802    d 1879      m Eliza Ewing
Revd John Henry    b 1807      d 1885      m Eliza Porter
Nelson Henry      b c1810      d 1881      m Margaret Mulligan
*   Mary Henry      b c1813            m James McIlroy
Thomas Henry      b c 1815   d 1901      m Mary Jane Kirkpatrick
*   Isaac Henry      b c 1817   d 1884      m Mary Mulligan

Cheers

Linda

Thank you Linda. I have found the last couple of days to be engrossing. It is a little while ago that I stopped looking for info on the Bryce Henry family. I was contacted by a Frances Daly. She was also interested in the Bryce Henry line and thought that she and my wife Janet were linked. I will update you in time. Bryan.

Hi Sibbie

My father and I were in contact in the early 1990s with Ethel Broderson,  a descendant  of the KatiKati Henry's and we did put together quite a lot of Henry informaion back then. Ethel wrote to the 1st Antrim Presbyt. Church in 1993 and they passed her letter on to one of William's granddaughters  Alice Scott.

Thomas Henry  was an older brother of William Henry, and he came to NZ in 1886 with his wife and older children and they settled in Katikati. Another brotehr John, second son of Bryce Henry appears to have come to NZ in 1866 and settled in the South island.
