Birth for Sarah?
« on: Wednesday 24 January 24 17:56 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone see a birth for Sarah Clare in Shifnal? Her death is given as 1829 age 42
There seems to be a couple of Clare families including Sarahs but neither match the birth date!

Don’t forget that ages at death are notoriously unreliable. Even some people didn’t know their own age, in those days birthdays were not celebrated as they are today.

You didn’t quote the birth years of the  two Sarahs you had found. I agree 10 years is a large gap, but not unheard of, there is also the possibility of an error in the burial record, you always have to keep an open mind until you have researched all possibilities.

42 ish seems a reasonable age in 1829 for someone who married in 1811
Added to say…AND had a baby.  So 1770 seems far too old.

(No Clares as witnesses to the marriage  …Elizabeth Lewis & Willm. Bailey  (Willm Bailey is a regular witness)
Have you identified Elizabeth Lewis?
