Suzanne Joulain and Daniel Bruneteau Baptism of Daniel in French
« on: Wednesday 24 January 24 21:21 GMT (UK) »
Looking for a translation of this small document but always so useful to me.

Seems to be dated 1678 and have seen several Daniels and several Suzannes so hope to sort out the right one with this...

2nd listing...

I don't think the mother is called Joulain; can't read the name of the godmother

du 9e octobre 1678
Daniel fils de Daniel Bruneteau & de
Suzanne Saullin, est né le 29e septembre
dernier; presanté au baptisme par
Daniel Bruneteau et Suzanne ...

the next one has a familiar sounding name
Daniel fils de Daniel Delouche & de Jeanne
Aumousnier

There are lots of other capital 'J's in this clip -
Jeanne twice in the first baptism;
Jean in the first baptism;
Jean later on in several other baptisms. Some of those are joined to the 'de' before them.
None of those 'J's have the loops as in the first letter of Suzanne's surname.............

Lane, Burgess: Cheshire. Finney, Rogers, Gilman:Derbys
Cochran, Nicol, Paton, Bruce:Scotland. Bertolle:London
Bainbridge, Christman, Jeffs: Staffs

I can see exactly what your saying and the J's except for Suzanne's are the same.

Appreciate your time and comments. I will see if another document is available for any further indications of the name.

I believe it is Joulain although it looks just like Zefro's translation for sure.

I'm leaning towards Suzanne's surname being written Jaullin, as the upper part of the first letter doesn't have the characteristic anticlockwise loop of 'S', which can just about be seen in 'Suzanne'.

This writer seems quite inconsistent in his use and style of upper case letters: this entry begins with Daniel fils de Daniel bruneteau, and the next one Daniel fils de daniel Delouche - and in both of them, the 'D' of the child's name is different from the 'D' further along.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

I don't think the mother is called Joulain; can't read the name of the godmother

du 9e octobre 1678
Daniel fils de Daniel Bruneteau & de
Suzanne Saullin, est né le 29e septembre
dernier; presanté au baptisme par
Daniel Bruneteau et Suzanne ...

the next one has a familiar sounding name
Daniel fils de Daniel Delouche & de Jeanne
Aumousnier

Daniel Delouche was Married to Jeanne Aulmousier (Aumonier/Aumounier etc spellings)

Jeanne Aulmousier's grandparents were Suzanne Jaullain and Jacques Aulmousier.

(Jaulain/Jaulin etc spellings)

The same group of names repeat themselves....
I thought I found a document that related to Daniel Bruneteau 1678 born for a marriage but turned out is was a 1695 born one.

Cannot find a document anywhere to support the right name.
