1921 Census Can't Find James Cobley
« on: Thursday 25 January 24 19:30 GMT (UK) »
I cannot find James Cobley born 1890 in Ancoats, Manchester. He married Florrie Filer in 1922.
I have managed to find his sibling Esther Cobley who married Henry Middleton.
James's parent are deceased by 1921 so they aren't any help.
If anyone can find him can they please tell what search criteria they use since i have tried everything i can think of without success.
Thank you
Rob

OK, what was his occupation in 1922?
What names witnessed?
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

He is at the same address as he put on his marriage cert. (see FindMyPast marriages)

I searched using that address and age.. nothing else.

You might want to look for James LOBLEY (living with sisters Mrs Mary Jane Doyle and Minnie) in the  Prestwhich
RD

If that doesn't work, try looking for his brother in law William ENID Doyle (transcription error  - should say William Henry Doyle !) born India 1883

jc26red,
James Lobely is my man, the census page could easily mistake the C for and L.
Well done!
I couldn't find his address through marriages but I'm confident this is he.
My wild card searches all started with C*   I should have tried the other way *obley*
Thank you to all who contributed.

Link to the marriage
https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=R_22673943361%2F1

baptism
https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=R_102734417062&expand=true

7 of James and Janes children are listed as being baptised at All Saints Ancoats but not Mary Jane?
