Cleanup for Hurling Team

Hi All.
Please help to clean up and improve this photo of a hurling team in County Waterford Ireland for me. It would mean so much. I think it was taken in 1940s. It is the only photo I have of my dad when he played hurling. Shortly after this photo was taken he died very tragically aged just 35. The photo is from a newspaper and the quality is very bad. It would be really great if someone could possibly help.

What newspaper is it from? There may be a better version in one of the archives.

Hi dublin 1850 Thanks for that suggestion. I never thought of that and I have full access to the Irish News Archive. I must see if There is a date on the photo.

Hi again Just found the photo on the newspaper archives. but unfortunately the quality is not much better. I really hope someone can improve even just a little bit

That's a very small, low quality image unfortunately. What paper and date is it from?

I gave the original image a bash. If there is a local library, they often keep pictures of local interest.

You could contact INA and ask them where the originals are that they scanned.

Thank you so much once again, you are so helpful. I found the photo on the Irish News Archive website.
The paper is the Waterford News and Star January 20th 2009 page30.
I know the quality is extremely bad but you have made a great improvement to it.
