On Checking my Mother In law's birth certificate she was born in 1929 at The infirmary 493 Hale Road, Farnham, she had no connection with the area, I can only think that her Mother 'Adopted' a child from the infirmary

Does the birth certificate give any other address on it other than the Hale Road one.

Hi  The Birth was registered in Farnham, the address is their Tadley address,  and only the Hale road address as place of Birth

The Adoption of Children Act of 1926 regulated the adoption of children.

My understanding is that, from 1 January 1927, the full birth certificate of an adopted child must state the date of the adoption order and the name of the court granting the order.

Just to be clear - if you have a full birth certificate for your mother in law, and it doesn't say she was adopted, then she wasn't adopted.

It looks as though they were probably just away from home at the time she went into labour then  :-\

That is probably the explanation, I suppose that was the only hospital at the time, must try and find out why they were there, thank you
