well, he should be on the 1861 census somewhere as left the army in 1860 but young men in lodgings were the most likely not to be enumerated.

In addition to the 2 RC baptisms, there's this CoE one for Rosina as well

Elizabeth is on the 1891 census as Thomson with son Edwin, both lodgers RG12/1960 folio 16 pg 25. Haven't spotted her on the 1901 as yet.

Thank you, it looks like the children may have been baptised CofE then Catholic after the death of their father.

Great find in the 1891 census!  I'm going to keep digging today to try to find when Elizabeth died and follow up on their children.
