Walter Scanes b. 1876 Exeter marriage or death

Dear all,
I have a relative for whom the paper trail seems to run dry and I'd like to see if he married and when he died. He is Walter Scanes, born in 1876 in Exeter to Walter Scanes (1858-1933) and Emma Fouracres (1858-1892). He had a brother, Alfred Scanes (1877-1950). He can be found in '81 and '91, but then the trail runs completely dry.

There's a Walter Scanes who gives his dob as 1 Aug 1875 (or sometimes 1876), in England,  living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Say he immigrated in 1900. As there are only two Walter Scanes b ENgland in this time frame, and the other one can be followed, this seems quite possibly your man. He died in 1963

On his marriage he gives his father's name as Walter, but his mother's surname is Holmes?
