Christopher Stonehouse 1929
« on: Monday 29 January 24 00:22 GMT (UK) »
Christopher was my Great Great Uncle who took his own life on the 4 July 1929.
I know from his death Certificate that an inquest was held at Middlesbrough on the 5th of July 1929.
I am looking for any information on the inquest.
I have tried Find My Past and am coming up with zero.
Where would I find information on the inquest?
Any help appreciated
Carol

I found this at BNA but nothing about an inquest. Probably you have already seen it?

Friday 05 July 1929: Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail

Quote
SHOCK FOR GIRL GUIDE
A Girl Guide had an unnerving experience at Middlesbrough. Ellna Snook. the captain of the troop attached to St. John's Church, Middlesbrough, had occasioned to enter the cloakroom at St. John's Hall, where she found a man hanging. The body was cut down, but the man was found to be dead. He was identified as Christopher Stonehouse (55). of Bright Street, who had been verger at St. John's for 15 years.

"Ellna" is how the girl's name was reported in two different newspapers. Perhaps an attempt at Eleanor? Either way, I haven't been able to find a good candidate for her.

According to this records may not exist any more.

"Teesside Archives have Middlesborough coroner's records from 1950s but the whereabouts of earlier records are unknown. York City Archives have York coroner's records c.1913-date, plus a volume of abstracts. "
