Thanks for the link.

It's hard to tell with the limited information given on medal cards.

I can't see anything for him on The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.

There is a Walter Nelson of 234 Hackney Road London on WW1 service record - no age or family shown

I've finally found this record.  He was discharged to 99 Talgarth Road Kensington which sounds a bit grand.

The house still seems to be there, if you look on Google Maps.

An expensive part of London now, but I wonder how it was viewed at the time?
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

I've had a look in the papers to see what I could find out.

The only thing I've found is in this.

Kensington News and West London Times - Friday 31 May 1929

'One minute Baron's Court Station - One or two business friends required to share large, well furnished bed setting room - (ground floor), opening on to conservatory, piano etc. Mackay 99 Talgarth Road.'

For some reason, the advert is in twice, perhaps an error on the part of the printer.

UPDATE: A few of the surrounding properties have rooms to let from as far back as 1909.

I would be surprised if he had enough money to rent rooms anywhere let alone Kensington.

I need to find a likely candidate in the 1921 census and a possible death.

Walter NELSON is a fairly common name but he was not given a middle name when he was baptised.
