The fathers prof on the marriage certificate of his son (although deceased) was "contractor builder"
I have the marriage certificate, Ada Ellen Killick was a spinster, married Alfred William Linton 1907 Batchelor. They both lived at 17 Victory Street, Sheerness. They had two children one born in 1908 William Alfred & Dorothy born in 1905. I will check the other info you have given.

Going back to the 1871 census entry - parents have moved to Leicestershire by 1881 & have 2 more children - but Alfred is not with them.

Alfred snr is now shown as b Loughborough but is still a painter.  Births of children John Charles 8 & Tom Bennett  both show mmn as Keeling

Can’t find Alfred in 1881 but there is a 21yr old Alfred Linton b Ashbourne - occ show rivetter - living with parents Alfred - master builder b Leicester.  Wife is now Elizabeth b Northants & other 2 children on 1881 census are not with them

Alfred deserting  from the navy may be the reason Ada remarried in her maiden name, probably bigamously. Her second marriage certificate should show how she declared her marital status.

Did not see any significance in 'Run' as not being up on military speak.  Looked it up it basically means deserted.

DR - deserted or DD - Dead. Nothing mentioned on record except Run 11 Jan 1909 so he never returned after the date given.

Do let us know if you get Ada’s second marriage certificate. It’s a shame it comes under Sheppey and not Medway where all their records are online and free.
