CWGC have been searching for relatives for 4 years.

Commonwealth War Graves Commissions are appealing for blood relatives  of Lance Corporal Adrian Beatson Stokes - died 25/12/1915 -  AGED 48 YEARS -Royal Sussex Regiment.
Research shows Lance Corporal Stokes is buried Old Cemetery, Hove.

TF/591 Lance Corporal, Royal Sussex Regiment,

Lance Corporal Beatson has been remembered on the Brookwood 1914-1918 Memorial

Son of James J. and Agnes Stokes; husband of the late Vera Stokes.

Tried to track a son John Watson Stubbs born 23/2/1933 Reigate Surrey but he sadly passed away 6/1/2023 Hindhead. Surrey.  :'(

Married 2.1.1892 Battersea.

In 1911 Adrian with wife Vera Nellie(1868) Daughters Vera Dorothy & Olga Beatson & 1 servant. at 59 Rutland Gardens, Hove. Adrian was a Solicitor.
Wife Vera died Dec 1911

Service No 591.
Soldiers Effects:- L/Cpl Royal Sussex. Died Chisledon Camp. £1.6.10 & £3.12.05  & War Gratuity £4.5 to Miss Vera Stokes.

Probate. Of 101 Borough High St, Southwark. L/Cpl 6th Cyclists Batt, Royal Susex Regt. Died 25.12.1915 at RAMC Hospital Chisledon Camp, Wiltshire. Admin(with Will) to Vera Stokes, spinster. Effects £254.5.04

Burial Register shows Adrian of 59 Rutland Gardens. L/Cpl 6th Sussex.

 
His father John Stokes was in the Royal Artillery up to 22.10.1867
