Is this a Queen Anne Chair?
« on: Tuesday 30 January 24 02:49 GMT (UK) »
Hello.

My mother called this chair a Queen Anne chair.
Does anyone know if it is?

Thanks, Charlie

O don’t think so. I understand Queen Anne to me as on this https://aaronstouchup.com/what-is-queen-anne-furniture/#:~:text=Queen%20Anne%20chairs%20are%20known,shaped%20back%2C%20as%20pictured%20below.

I think your one is more Victorian,

I’d say Victorian too, and given its height a nursing chair ,for mothers to sit on whilst feeding their babies .
Still a nice thing to have,
Viktoria.

I have a feeling that the legs have been shortened, and the castors added later. Ignoring the castors, the legs have an unfinished look. It looks like half a bun foot.

I'm pretty sure it's a Victorian nursing chair. The legs did have castors. If it isn't there are a lot of auctioneers who are confused and it means I've undersold a lot of chairs in my career.

Thank you everyone.
I'd never heard of a nursing chair and now the chair means a bit more to me.
