Thomas Prior 1812

The census records (Histon 1851) show that Thomas Prior was born in Eynesbury in 1812. A news cutting Aug 1846 records his father's ,Joseph, death and gives a reference to Thomas Prior of Histon.


Can anyone see baptism details for Thomas and any brother or sisters? And his mother?

No mention of age of Joseph when he died - GRO online shows 63 so birthyear approx 1783

RD was St Neots which was also Huntingdonshire.  There is an 1841 entry for a Joseph Prier (amended to Prior) b 1786 which you may want to take a look at.  Nothing in Cambridge

Presume there is nothing on Family Search in either Hunts or Cambridge?

When Thomas Prior married Hannah Barnet he was of Great Staughton Huntingdonshire

married 6 May 1833 at Glapthorne Northamptonshire, witness Emanual Barnett, Christian Barnett.

There is a tree which has his birth as 9th February 1812 in Eynesbury, Hunts, son of Joseph and Sarah.

Marriage of Joseph to Sarah on 7th February 1811, in St Neots, to Sarah Wright.

It also has a second marriage for Joseph on 4th October 1815, in St Neots, to Mary Squire.

Children in St Neots: Sarah 1814, James 1816, Elizabeth 1819 and Susan 1826

Joseph born 17 April 1784 in St Neots and died on 2nd August 1846 in Eynesbury.

Mary born on 4th September 1796 in Little Paxton, daughter of William Squire and Mary Palmer.

3rd marriage of Joseph to Elizabeth Hill

Children in Eynesbury: John 1832, Joseph 1835 and Richard 1840. Two with them in 1841.

I can't find any confirmation of the above, except for Susan, baptised on 18th March 1826 in Eton Socon.

Joseph Prior widower married Elizabeth Hill spinster 1829 at Eynesbury (Typed transcript on FindMyPast).

The son age 5 on 1841 census died 1847 age 12.  Ref: GRO Index

Richard age 9 moths 1841 census married Sarah Grey 24 August 1860 St John, Bethnal Green

Richard's occupation was Smith.

His father Joseph Prior - Baker
Her father Samuel Grey - Cattle Dealer

1881 he is in Bedfordshire with 2nd wife Jane Golla nee?
married as Ellinor Martha J Golla  Ref: FreeBMD

Interesting that his father, Joseph , was also a Baker. and Thomas had just a sister, Sarah 1814, and lots of half siblings.
