1841 Marriage certificate
« on: Tuesday 30 January 24 21:58 GMT (UK) »
I have an 1841 marriage certificate of my 3 x great grandmother, please could someone help me decipher the name of the father - looks like GB Riley. It might even be an abbreviation of a longer name.  :-\
Any help appreciated. Thankyou.

I wonder if it is an H.
I know it doesn't look the exactly same as the H of Hargreaves, but if you look at how the letter is formed, starting with the stroke up from bottom left, it could work out that way when its not flowing on to the rest of a word.

changed my mind. But leaving incase it stimulates someone else :-)

From images on ancestry, he's fairly clearly recorded in several records (1851, 1861 censuses, birth/baptism/marriages of some children and his death records) as Job.

Without seeing everyone's replies, I thought it was Job. The "ob" is the same as in "Robert".  :D
