« on: Thursday 01 February 24 11:20 GMT (UK) »
Herbert YORK b 1889 Greenwich. married 1914 Bromley to Florence Annie BATES b 1887 Bromley
I am stuck with this family.
Can't go back can't go forward as I need  I think the 1921 census
Sons as found on FreeBDM are Geoffrey Herbert York b 1916 and and Keith York b 1921. There should perhaps also be a daughter Elizabeth.

Please is anyone can help it will be mightily appreciated

If this is him he appears to be with his parents in 1911.

The 1921 is not of much use, just gives the three members - Herbert, Florence and Geoffrey.

The marriage certificate may be of more use as it should give you the fathers' names.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

There is only one birth of a Herbert York registered Greenwich in the right timeframe

Births Jun 1889
York    Herbert         Greenwich    1d   1114    mother's maiden name Willimott

And only one Florence Annie Bates registered Bromley Dec 1887 2a p 423 mmn Hayter

1921 is pay per view, so you have as much access as anyone else.

1891 census Herbert with parents Robert York b 1841 and Annie in Greenwich, father is a butcher.

Robert York married Ann Willimott Greenwich Dec quarter 1864

There just seems to be one Bates/Hayter marriage too

Marriages Mar 1880
Bates   James Bromley 2a 445

Hayter    Mary Ann         Bromley    2a   445

1901 census Bates family are in Bromley, James is a gardener originally from Devon.
1891 census James' first name is completely different! Looks like Cockburn.

That should be enough to get you further back, though if it was me I would confirm father's details by getting the York/Bates marriage certificate.
