There was a newspaper in Clinton, Indiana, at that time:
The Weekly Clintonian (Clinton, Indiana) 1912-1918
 Notes
    -  Weekly
    -  Began in 1912?
    -  Ceased in 1918? Cf. Gregory, W. Amer. newspapers.
    -  Issued also in daily edition called: The Daily Clintonian

    Libraries that Have It
HOLDING: Indiana State Libr, Indianapolis, IN
    Available as:
    Microfilm Service Copy
    Dates:

the state library's website:
Indiana State Library
https://www.in.gov/library/

The local library was not listed at the Library of Congress site, but is definitely worth a try. It looks like they do lookups

The State Library /might/ do lookups, but not as likely as the local library. You'd probably need to find a local researcher to go in and look through the microfilm.

Hi oldohiohome,

Thank you. That's very helpful information. I will follow through with (hopefully) lookups.

So pleased too that you were able to provide me with the marriage details. Regards.

I am seeking any newspaper details for Isabella Moore (nee Spoor) (b 1865 Indiana) who was married to John Moore (1855-1928). On returning to Clinton, Indiana, after the funeral of her father, William Spoor (1833-1913) on 24 May 1913 she was brutally murdered by her husband.

Was there a trial, and what sentence was given? I am interested to know more details.

He was found guilty of 1st degree murder and given a life sentence 5 June 1913. He was taken to the prison in Michigan City to serve his time.

Hello RJ137,

Thank you. That is so wonderful having the newspaper items. And also knowing a little more about the reason behind such a brutal murder. The sentence too, although the time behind bars was only 15 years before John Moore died in 1928.

So appreciative of the help given in my quest. Regards.
