Have found references to Nicholas Hayward, notary, in the late 17th Century but not related to the name "Soulard".

Added - it's possible the screen required will not be displayed. If so, please let me know.

Thanks for clarifying.
My ancestor Stephen Soulard (1656-1712) was born in France and lived for several years in England. He left France after the revocation of the edict of Nantes.
He was son of Stephen Soulard (1624-1685) and grandson of another Stephen Soulard , advocate (born approximately 1595)

Est-ce que le lien au-dessus est le vôtre? Si oui, on peut voir ce que vous avez trouvé jusqu'ici.

Mes aïeux, les Prévost, sont venus de la Picardie (vers Saint-Quentin).

Is the link above yours? If so, we can see what you have found up till now.

My ancestors, the Prevosts, came from Picardy (around Saint Quentin).

Yes it's my tree. You speak french?
It's funny my mother and my grand mother were born at St Quentin and I have some ancestors not far from St Quentin (Somme, Nord)

Starting again as page just shut down!

Thanks for confirming that! Yes I speak French and thankfully now have French nationality as well as British!

My Huguenot Prevost ancestors came from Saint Quentin, Malincourt and Lehaucourt - so from the Aisne and Nord départements within Picardy. Like you I have a Bernard in the family. Pierre Prevost married Marie(-Anne) Bernard in London in the early 1700s.

Good Luck with your research!

I'm not a FindmyPast member . Is it possible to have a copy or screenshot of this text
Thank you

It doesn't say very much, I'm afraid.

STEPHEN SOULARD, born at Xaintes, son of Stephen and Mary Soulard.

If you go back a few pages the first part of the heading is NATURALIZATION BILLS WHICH DID NOT BECOME ACTS.

The Bill was read a first time in the Lords 21 Jan., 1689-90, and a second time on the 27 Jan. Bear in mind that the UK did not adopt the Gregorian Calendar until 1752 so those dates use the Julian calendar (France was way ahead of us and adopted it in 1582!)

The double year given is because the old New Year didn't start till the 25 March - see below:

Before 1752 the first day of the year was 25 March. Pre-1752 dates may be confusing. For example, the day after 24 March 1565 was 25 March 1566. Dates between 1 January and 24 March are often recorded using a technique called “double dating.” An example of a date using double dating is 16 February 1696/7.
