Abbreviation NGM on baptism records

I have a traveller family baptism with the abbreviation NGM after the parents names.
Does anyone have any idea what this stands for please?
Mayhew,Birch,Coates,Norman - Suffolk
Masters - Somerset

Have you looked through the rest of the register to see if the abbreviation occurs again, or even if it appears in a different (i.e. more complete) form?

I wondered if it was that too, but then thought that they don’t name the godparents in the register anyway, so why would they care if there wasn’t one?

I thought North Gloucester Militia but that is Royal North Gloucester - no idea really.

I just searched that and Wikipedia has:
“ In the spring of 1805, with the French Grande Armée assembling at Boulogne, intensive training in light infantry tactics and brigade manoeuvres was carried out. On 30 May the RNGM began a march from Steyning to Bristol …”

The baptism would fit -5th May - but in June , I see ‘N G M’ and later, ‘S G M’.
