St. Illtyd's baptisms 1850-70
« on: Tuesday 06 February 24 19:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I understand these records are available to view at the Merthyr Tydfil Public Library.

I learned from a Facebook connection (whose friend, now deceased had looked it up for her) that the following were baptized at St. Illtyd's:
Denis McCarthy on March 4, 1854
Ellen McCarthy on February 2, 1859
Catherine McCarthy on June 27, 1863

The name may be spelled Carty/Carthy/MacArthy/McCarty/ or other variant.

There should also be Patrick between 1854 and 1859, Johanna/Hannah, Ellen and Daniel.  Daniel will be the youngest, maybe 1865.

Parents should be Denis/Dennis and Mary Cronin.  It’s possible that Mary may have gone by Hannah.

I have not found any of them on the civil record site gro.gov.uk.  Denis and Mary are my great-great-grandparents; Denis, Jr is my great-grandfather.  They left Ireland for Wales between 1845 and 1854, then left for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1874.  In 1861 they lived at the back of Pen y Darren Road; in 1871 they lived at 90 Pen y Darren Rd. In Merthyr Tydfil, Hamlet of Garth, Pen y Darren Village.

I’ll be happy with a digital copy sent through email.  Or even to my phone.

I’ve been looking for this family for many years and will be very grateful for whatever you can find!

Thank you very much!
Meg

Thank you, Milliepede.  I am delighted to tell you that I just now received digital photos of baptisms of Denis, Ellen, Catherine and Johanna from the wonderful people at St Illtyds.  And at no charge!  I'd sent an email request last week.  Still looking for Patrick and Daniel, though.
