Another child, but what became of her?
« on: Thursday 08 February 24 07:36 GMT (UK) »
I’ve periodically been working on my husbands tree. He’s of Irish ancestry.

Great grandfather was Michael Maher, who married Mary Gray (she occasionally uses the maiden name O’Hara in her children’s birth registrations. I’ve had several posts on Rootschat about their family. Here are a couple of them.

https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=811129.msg6712117#msg6712117

Since that first original post, I’ve confirmed the following children for Michael and Mary.

Mary (Molly) b1909 Mullingar, died 1980
Rose b1911 Mullingar, died 1989
John Joseph b1914 Mullingar, died 1915
Teresa b1916 Mullingar, died 1962
Michael (Mick) b1918, died 1999
Catherine/Kathleen, b1920 died 2008
Bridget b1923  died 2003
Christopher b1926, died 2004
Annie b1930, died 2022

All apart from John Joseph died in England.

A couple of days ago, on irishgenealogy.ie I found another child - Mary, born 1922 in the County Hospital, Mullingar.

My husband grew up knowing his great gran and reckons she had about 10 children, and “one or two” died young.

I cannot find a death for a young Mary, or if she didn’t die as a child, any marriage I’m happy that is her,

Can anyone find her? I’m about to go to work, but will pop in, so to speak, periodically.

Bridget on your list (born 1922) can't be a sibling.

Just to confuse matters - mother Mary occasionally used Ohara as her maiden name for birth registrations.

She was born Gray, illegitimate, her mother married a Michael Ohara.

There was definitely a Brigid - I met her - Auntie Biddie!

But she couldn't have been born 1922 is the point.

If Mary was born in JUNE 1922, then it was simply impossible that there was another surviving sibling (other than a twin), born that same year.

Maybe Auntie Mary was known as Auntie Biddie/Bridget.

Do you have her birthdate?

Didn't I already suggest that?

Yes, but mine was asking for further information. No problem.
