I'm struggling to read the top line of the seventh box - ???????? of Mary Ann Pope.....

It looks like an X then another word. Would it be 'X The mark of'?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
