I agree that context might help.

I think I can make out some letters but together they don’t make much sense. It looks like it starts with an R.. - possibly Ro… there are several possibilities eg Romigie, Rornig e or u. Would you expect this to be a “non English” surname?

Is there any other writing you can show us for comparision? Is the date 1867? Is this in the back of a photo as suggested by bearcat?

Mmm

The first letter looks like R or P..last letter looks like the n of Jane, maybe an e on end? Romayne - Pomayne. There is a Romain surname, but not looked indepth.

Looking at the background I think it reads

W. HOBCRAFTS
Wholesale Optical Photographic Depot
419 Oxford Street. Near Soho Square
dated August 26th /67

Cannot find anything for depot on Google, but the colour may suggest 1867

Looking through some census surname indexes I've spotted a few instances of Ronague or Rounge, but I'm not convinced it's either of those.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

How old do we think she is? 20 - 23? I've tried looking for Martha [without Jane] Rom* on 1861/1871 censuses. Though maybe she was visiting London not a resident? The  fact that you found the ambrotype in Russia makes that more feasible.
Seeking: RC baptism Philip Murray Feb ish 1814 ? nr Chatham Kent.

She appears to be wearing a wedding ring on her right hand - or is this one of the kinds of photo that comes out reversed? The question of reversal might be relevant, since I believe in some parts of Europe it's more usual to wear the ring on the right hand.

I also thought her outfit looked much more flamboyant than you usually see in photos of that date. So was she particularly wealthy, or dressed in a style more commonly found in another country? (Or both)
