Looking for a Grave: Goulding
« on: Thursday 08 February 24 15:48 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the grave of my grandparents who lived in Over, Winsford. Maggie Goulding (Ikin) died in 1984, aged 82, born 11th May 1902. George Goulding died Oct-Dec 1966, aged 65 born Jul-Sep 1901. I believe they will be buried together. St. Chad’s, Over seemed the logical place, but I have contacted the church and they are not there. I also looked on Find a Grave and Billion Graves with nothing offered.
Is there a way of finding out where they were buried/cremated?

I would have suggested the Northwich & Winsford Guardian or Winsford Chronicle.  There appears to be a gap in the on-line version of the Chronicle from 1980 - 1987  :(   And I can't seem to find the Guardian at all.

A possible for George:

https://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/matchref.php?county=cheshire&date=1966&type=death&reference=WI%2F4B%2F071&prefix=NH

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks BumbleB. From the lack of information CheshireBMD offers I have traced it to be the only George Goulding who died that year in Cheshire, so it has to be him. But, it only offers me the death reference, which I already have, not where he is buried. The newspapers are a poor option for that area/time, and the GRO does not have that year, as I found it on FreeBMD.

There may be instructions in Maggie Goulding’s will.

Probate listing of George also states the amount, but Maggie would also have a house that required selling. Does Probate mean there is a Will for both? My uncle, their son and Accountant was the Executor for both. I will send for Maggie’s information.

Having decided to fill in my family tree and only reached my grandparents before I came across a blank. I assumed it would be St. Chad’s but not there, so this evening I have sent an email to St. John’s.

George Goulding was 1967. From the information it is him: 15 St. George's Road.

Yes, I saw it later.
It would be worth getting a copy of Maggie’s probate as there may be instructions there.

Not sure if this is of any use to you.  My family lived in Little Budworth and I went to Winsford Verdin County Grammar School!!  My parents were cremated - 1970 at Altrincham and 1994 - Crewe.
