Elizabeth Hirst baptised 18 Feb 1721
« on: Saturday 10 February 24 06:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
She was baptised18 Fen 1721 at St Peter Birstall Yorkshire.
I would like some help trying to identify the name of the place she was from. To me it looks like Ridoings but I just can locate the name of this place. She had at least three siblings, and all the documents appear to read Ridoings. Would greatly appreciate any assistance in trying to identify the Ridoings  name. A copy of the line concerned form the baptism record is attached

Could it be a spelling version of Ridings??   - around the area of Ridings Hall and Ridings Wood :-\  https://maps.nls.uk/view/100947632#zoom=5&lat=2182&lon=7551&layers=BT

I suspect Kay is correct. It looks like Rideings to me, so meant to be Ridings. (look at the "e" in "daughter" - typical of the time)

Hello Kay99 and maddys52
I agree with Kay99 and it is quite likely to be Ridings. The maps and will Kay99 sent are very useful.
I have just established that Ryding Hall is mentioned on the Spen Valley Civic Society web site.
Thanks to you both for your replies.
