Eliza Ann Conolli died 7th December 1930 Blackburn Lancashire
« on: Sunday 11 February 24 06:25 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the family back from Eliza Ann Conolli aged 18 when married to Jeremiah Sullivan aged 21 7th February at Immanuel Parish Church Oswaldtwistle Lancashire.

Eliza Ann was illiterate and only made her mark so not completely sure of the spelling of her surname.
Her father is down as John Conolli  - Sailor.

Would love to trace back to her mother and grandparents.

Think they were Catholics and maybe originally from Ireland - but thats just family hearsay.

She isn’t at 323 Union Road in 1881.

In censuses she consistently gives her birthplace as Liverpool. There is a Liverpool (Catholic) baptism which could be her:

St Anthony's Liverpool
Eliza Ann Connolly
birth 2 March 1865
baptism 14 March 1865
parents:
Joannes Connolly [fits with John on marriage document]
Maria Byrnes
Boyd, Dove, Blakey, Burdon

There's an Andrew Thomas Connolly mother's maiden name Burns birth reg Liverpool 1863 who is in Oswaldtwistle in 1901 & 1911 and has a child baptised the same day as one of Jeremiah Sullivan's. So he could be Elizabeth's brother.

Anc**y have an image of the original record of banns of the 1882 marriage in Oswaldtwistle (Jan 29th, Feb 5th, Feb 12th): her name is spelled Eliza Ann CONOLLY in that document

In 1901 Jeremiah and Eliza Ann Sullivan are at 8 Victoria street with seven children. I'm guessing that the OP has all of the post-marriage details of the family.

In the July 4th 1903 edition of the Haslingden Gazette there is a long article about the inquest on the death of Thomas Walmsley who died after a fall of stone in Town Bent Collieries, Oswaldtwistle. One of the witnesses was Jeremiah Sullivan of 8, Victoria Street, and there is a detailed account of his testimony, too long to transcribe here.

OP: if you are interested to see this send me a PM.

Thank you every one.  The link to her parents as Maria Byrnes or Maria Burns is a step further back  Also John Conolli or the different spelling of Connally helps.

Any further assistance would be greatfully appreciated as I want to get back as far as I can in the Maternal line but also trace the family to Ireland if possible

Thank you again
