Date please, possibly Joseph Rackley and two sisters
« on: Sunday 11 February 24 12:17 GMT (UK) »
Please can someone date this picture?

I have titled it as the writing on back suggests; Joseph Rackley was born in 1848, he had sisters born in 1829, 1831, 1841, 1844.

Thank you, Josey

Not going to guess the dates as the "experts" will know better than me, but a tad clearer perhaps.

I'm thinking that it might be mid 1860s.

Lovely restoration thank you Japeflakes, much clearer.

The man looks quite like who I know to be Joseph's son Frank b 1905. If photo is mid 1860s is the man is about right age [just under 20] for Joseph born 1848? Joseph's father William b 1807 had the following children with wife Jane Newman - George 1827, Mary 1829, Maria 1831, David 1833, Henry 1838, Charlotte 1841, Anne 1844, Joseph 1848.

I inherited the picture from a descendant of Frank so is it more likely to be his father Joseph with sisters than of an older uncle of Frank's with aunts.

Thank you both

Yes I agree. Clearer on japeflakes' restoration!!

How old would you say the women are? One on RH side looks quite a lot older then one on LH side.

No obvious rings or wrinkles. I think they look in their late 20s.  Their bone structure is different which might make the rh one look older.
