« on: Sunday 11 February 24 15:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi Rootchatters,
Could anyone tell me what information would be on a 1929 birth certificate in Scotland please.
Many thanks.

Silly me!  I was on ScotlandsPeople when I posted.
Just one more question please.  I have found 5 possible entries for the birth I am looking for. All in the same reg. distr. of Aberdeen.  Is there anyway I can narrow this down when I order if I know the date of birth.  Hope this isn't another silly question.  I have e-mailed ScotlandsPeople last week but to date haven't had a reply. Just trying not to waste any more £12 's.  I've never do Scottish research before and this is for a friend.

The answer to your question is no... but you could narrow the search down if you knew the mother's maiden name.( Mother's maiden names do not appear in the column for that field for births in 1929 but the search still works if mother's maiden name is known).

Thank you William.
No luck so far I'm afraid.
I think as I am drawing a blank now I will post again tomorrow with the information I am using to see if you lovely Rootchatters can tell me where I am going wrong.
I cannot believe after nearly 30 years researching, today, I feel like I have only one brain cell and that isn't working!
Could someone tell me which board would be best to post please.  The research starts in England  (minimum amount and sorted) then Aberdeenshire Scotland
Thank you.

Welly, suggest you go direct to the Aberdeenshire board here www.rootschat.com/forum/aberdeenshire

As it is a 1929 birth reg, you won't be able to download the image online due to the 100 privacy rule (you can of course order the paper copy) but there might be other ways to find further details.

Thank you Monica.
I have a busy couple of days but I shall post on the link as soon as I can with the link you have given me. I did remember the 100 year rule hence the £12 cost.  Up until now I have managed to get information just using credits.
Again thank you for your time.

Could you look them up on the 1921 census to see which area they are living in to narrow it down.
You could look at the valuation rolls for their family to find the area too.
Would there be a death notice in the papers which may give you key information.
Failing those you could ask if some some kind person would look it up if they are visiting the Scotlands people centre or Mitchel Library
Good luck
