I agree about reducing her age  :)

In 1881 the Westbury Rachel is a servant to Richard Marston in Shrewsbury. RG11/2650 f20 p31

In 1891 Rachel is with her 'sister' Emma age 42 and brother Frank 23 living in Westbury
RG12/2105 f19 p10

Sorry Millmoor, I duplicated some of your information

I apologise Rachel Davies married Harry Nicholas in 1892 in Shrewsbury then they relocated to Chester. Rachel lived in Chester until her death in 1928 they had 3 children

On the 1871 census Rachel age 2 was living with her grandmother Ann Davies and Anne's daughter Elizabeth age 9.

All my mum knew about her grandmother was her name, where she was born the name of her spouse Harry and the date of Rachel's death. Not a lot to move forward especially with the surname Davies.

Thank you for your messages relating to my post it is greatly appreciated.

This would seem to be the wrong Rachel Davies. See Reply 5 from Rosie99

I am looking for information relating to my Great grandmother's Rachel Davies born in Wem January 1869. I have no information regarding Rachel's father but her mother is listed as Emma Davies born 1850. I think Emma's parents are John Davies and Ann Davies from Shrewsbury.

Just to follow up on this Rachel she appears to have married John Ridgway in Wem 1888 and is living in Bury, Lancashire in 1901.  Your other post indicates that she was in Lancashire in 1891 so not your Rachel.

Rachel Cartwright Davies married Harry Nicholas in 1892 Shrewsbury. They had 3 children Monica and Harry Norman were born in Shrewsbury. Then they relocated to Chester and their youngest child was born 1900 in Chester. Rachel was a dress maker and Harry was a tailor. Harry Nicholas was born in Bishops Castle, , Shropshire 1871and

Fillmore you have thrown me regarding the information on the 1881 census and the 1891 census, it is a possibility.I

I wish I had living family members that knew more information than me.

Your Rachel married Harry Nicholas in 1892 Shrewsbury.
......
Rachel (Cartwright Davies) daughter of Emma is listed on census as being born in 'Clive'

Ladyhawks post on your other thread lists information and census on this Rachel and it shows that mother Emma is now married to Samuel Lomax occ Letter Carrier.

In 1888 this Rachel Davies married John Ridgway at Wem - she named her father as Samuel 'Davies' occ Postman.  It would not be unusual for an illegitimate child to give her stepfathers first name together with her surname when she married to 'save face' rather than declare that she was illegitimate
