Dinslaken in the regional and city court
May 24th, 1816
Citizen Henrich Graever, who is well known to the local court, reported that the parents of his granddaughter Catharina Schnitzler, who served as a maid for Mr. Hoogland in Arnhem, were cloth manufacturer Johann Schnitzler and Elisabeth Schnitzler née Graever, are both deceased.
As a result, his granddaughter was unable to obtain the necessary parental consent for the planned marriage with Adolph Kreyenbrink.
As her grandfather , he could hereby submit this consent to the marriage with Adolph Kreienbrink to the court protocol, since he was completely satisfied with this marital union, and would therefore submit a judicial copy of his consent.

Thank you both, that is wonderful.  This helps in filling in a lot of blanks, although I am still surprised that a 40 year old woman would still need her parents consent to marry.  The wedding finally took place on 6 June!

Maybe it's because the groom was quite young (18 years old), if I'm not mistaken.

Yes he was - his father was actually 4 years younger than his bride!  However, they did make it to the church on time, as their first child was born just 5 weeks later.

Thanks again

One would expect an 18 year old pregnant bride with a 40 year old groom, here it was the opposite. :o
