You’re all amazing. I don’t know where to start…

Mckha489, the name change explains a lot. I couldn’t make sense of why I was getting stuck. Sister acts were very popular at the time, but all have catchy or familiar names. Sleightholm to Slater makes sense. I only included the Hackford Rd address as an after-thought…

CaroleW, thanks also for the pointer towards FreeBMD. I keep forgetting that it is there wven though the search tools and results display are so much more powerful than anything else I access.

Canada is mentioned as place of marriage, although Maddys52 has found it in N Y.

The marriage of Maude SLEIGHTHOLM and Albert E HALL was in Niagra Falls, so could be said to be in Canada.

March 1933 - various newspaper snippets re Mrs Maude Hall, formerly Sleightholm, of Brighton and her husband Albert E Hall. I think they concern his bigamy.

The article I can see also mentions that SLEIGHTHOLM was an actress.
Monday,  Mar. 27, 1933
Publication: The Daily Telegraph

Also says he was in the Canadian Forces - his attestment papers are on Ancestry.

Of interest, Violet Mary HALL is Roman Catholic on the death certificate.

Yes, I forgot to mention the actress bit which of course was what my interest was initially.

I wonder if the snippets are just adverts for the act rather than bookings at that time?
They are in ‘ London and Provincial Entr'acte’
There are two dated 11th and 18th November 1905

Here is the marriage of Maude Sleightholm, 20th November 1905

On the 1930 electoral roll at Brighton Maud HALL and Elizabeth and Sarah SLEIGHTHOLME are together at 2 Downs Rd.

I suspect you are correct heywood, the advertisements are for the act rather than bookings. Or possibly a stand in for Maude at this time?
