Cumming Families in the Parishes of Fortingall and Blair Atholl
« on: Friday 16 February 24 21:06 GMT (UK) »
One cluster of families by the name of Cumming / Cumin lived around the Kinloch Rannoch area, where parts of four parishes met - Fortingall, Logierait, Blair Atholl and Dull.

Although the OPR of Fortingall does not commence until the 1740s, and some pages are damaged, the Blair Atholl and Logierait OPRs mention Cumming families much earlier

The Cumming marriages and earlier births have now been indexed, and the genealogies have been mapped out based on the available evidence.

Unlike the Stewarts and Robertsons in the area, the Cumming families did not adhere to the traditional naming pattern for their children (eldest son after the paternal grandfather, eldest daughter after the maternal grandmother etc.)

Some branches were skilled millers and spread out to work the various corn mills.

We hope that our research will be of use to Cumming descendants.  If there are obvious errors or you have additional information, then please contact us.  The link to the Cumming Index is:
