CHARLES JOHN CARBERRY + ANNIE V RYAN-CARBERRY

Hi Everyone
    I am hoping to find the above on the NSW Electoral rolls 1949 and 1954 to see if any children are possibly listed with them.

  The 5 children of the above are not listed on the NSW BDM as I think they are probably born after 1924/5 therefore I cannot find them.

Charles John Carberry and Annie Veronica RYAN were married in Newtown NSW in 1917.  One child born/died 1922 Donald C J Carberry from what I could see.

I have Charles John's death certificate (1960) and the children are not listed.

The children I have for the above are: 1) JOHN CHARLES (maybe died 1960)2) ELSIE MAY (later Elza WELLS), 3) CORAL?  4) KAY?? and ALBERT CARBERRY (he lived in Western Australia from my memory).

Any help with these relatives would be very much appreciated.  Kindest regards Dianna

Hello Dianna,
There is nobody on the NSW E Rolls named Annie V. RYAN-CARBERRY.

From 1931 to 1937, Charles John and Annie CARBERRY lived at Alston Street Redfern together.
Most of the entries for the period show him as no occ. She performed HD's

 No others of the surname show with them but in 1931 a man named  Michael Richard CARBERRY is in the same suburb , a labourer at Castlereagh St.

By 1949 the couple occupied separate addresses and no others of the surname were with either of them.

    Thanks for that.  Maybe I should not have included her maiden name with the enquiry.  All good!  I think I will have to buy Annies death certificate to see if the kids are listed.

So it looks like the children are deceased, moved away, married.  I am just waiting for one marriage of Elsie May Veronica CARBERRY to a Mr. Lancelot Neville O'Brien in 1943, later divorced.

I am not sure about your knowledge of the CARBERRY couple in earlier life, but you may like to look at the WW1 records for John Charles.

He was discharged unfit for service from AIF. (Page 5 ).
It is likely he had ongoing health and (perhaps) addiction problems into later life.

Carberry gaoled for theft 1952. This is the right man despite the reversal of his given names.  The street given was his in 1952.

Hi thanks for this!!! so CHARLES JOHN CARBERRY is the father of JOHN CHARLES CARBERRY. 

In 1952 he (John Charles) is listed as 26 years old.  That gives me a birth of 1926, which sounds about right and the Liverpool record adds up for Charles John b 1887 in Cootamundra and the one who assaulted the girl!!  Oh No I have never heard of this before.

Thanks for those.  It's annoying when they reverse the names like that but they are father and son. Regards Dianna
