Baptisms and Burials for the Parish of Haroldston West
« on: Saturday 17 February 24 01:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

I am coming across register entries for relatives which simply state "Burials in the Parish of Haverfordwest" or "Baptisms in the Parish of Haverfordwest"

Addresses given in those registers as being resident in places such as Haroldston Glebe, Haroldston Tongues Farm and South Nolton.

I've been trying to identify which Church these actually refer to but not getting anywhere fast so would appreciate any suggestions.

I added burials into FindAGrave as St Madoc of Ferns but there's no trace of any of my relatives' burials in the churchyard there so wondering if I have the Church wrong and the registers mean Haroldston St Issells ?

Cheers
Lynda

UPDATE: I've found the entries on FreeReg and they identify which Church the register entries belong to..  Not sure why FindMyPast haven't indexed them correctly but got there in the end. :-)

Thank you so much for those details but would you know which church is meant exactly?

Haroldston St Issell, St Magog of Ferns or somewhere entirely different?

Many thanks for your assistance.
Cheers, Lynda

Findmypast does have them as Haroldston West, that's where I checked the details.

It's the parish church of Haroldston West, there's only one - St Madoc of Ferns

Thanks for your assistance Osprey -- I just wasn't sure if there was more than one burial ground in the area as SKS hadn't been able to locate any of these family graves in St Madoc when they went searching on my behalf.

I thought I must have the church wrong (even though the register indicates the service was conducted at St Madoc) as I'm unfamiliar with the area (I live in Australia).

Just because they're buried there doesn't mean there are headstones. Most families would not be able to afford the expense especially if it's the breadwinner who died. The church would have had a record of who is buried where, but it appears to be no longer used for worship.

that's fantastic that they are working to preserve it - it's such a beautiful wee church. I've donated! lol

I'll message them and ask about any burial information they may have available.

Thanks again Osprey...
