Property Ownership Records
« on: Saturday 17 February 24 14:32 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to establish whether my grandmother-in-law bought her several properties in her own name or in co-ownership with a man she lived with but did not marry although they fathered a son and pretended to be married - he even using her married name.

Does anyone know if the ownership of properties bought in London boroughs in, probably, 1930s and 1940s are available on line or by applying somewhere?

If they were well-off enough to own multiple properties, it's likely they left wills, which might be one way to get an understanding of the situation. https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/

f you know the property details you can ask for a historical search (see 'Get historical title registers')

Only grandmother left a Will and it doesn’t mention property by address although I do know the various addresses from other information and documents.  Grandfather was not married to grandmother (she was almost certainly still married to someone else) and he didn’t leave a Will and I can’t find Administration so I think he just had a bit of money and grandmother quietly ‘acquired’ it.

I’ll look at the link you sent - thank you.
