St Ronan's, Bridge of Weir.
« on: Sunday 18 February 24 10:05 GMT (UK) »
In 1925 my grandmother married in Glasgow. On her marriage certificate her usual residence is listed as St Ronan's, Bridge of Weir which was a surprise to us as her entire life was spent (as far as we knew) in Lanarkshire.
I can't find any hints as to what St Ronan's was so I'm hoping someone out there can shed some light on it.
My grandmother was 21 at the time so i've ruled out a school but she was a domestic servant (cook) so maybe it was a house?
Here's hoping someone out there can solve the mystery!

Thanks for responding. I did see that clip before I posted here but because it refers to a school I dismissed it.
There have been countless views on this topic but you're the only one to respond which makes me think I'm going to struggle to get it resolved!
Anyway, I live in hope and I'll keep checking in, just in case.
Thanks again!

Could she have been working as a cook in St Ronan's School?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Now that’s something I never considered (obviously). It certainly sounds like the only feasible answer and with regard to the lack of any other suggestions I’m satisfied that that’s got to be the reason she was out there.
Thanks for taking the time to respond!
