Town Criers of Tenby
« on: Sunday 18 February 24 10:55 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where there might be records of Town Criers for Tenby?

My great great uncle John John, on his daughter Florence's marriage certificate in 1931 says he is the Town Crier.

Any infomation about him would be great!

Thank you  :)

Thomas John was the Town Crier of Tenby in 1911 and 1921. Was John John a relative?

The records of such appointments should be in the minutes of Tenby Borough Council, now held at Pembrokeshire Archives:

Perhaps this is the one from the Daily Mirror 1/8/1939 that Hanes Teulu meant to post:

Thank you everybody...lost his voice...just what the Town Crier didn't need  ;D

I had no idea they were town criers for generations.  Never seen it before until Florence's marriage certificate
