Help please. I am trying to assist a friend who would dearly love to find some information on her father's family. This is all she has.
Marriage 1948 Cambridge
Alexander James Smith 19 R.A.F. abode Waterbeach father Alexander Smith factory stoker
Bride (all researched)
Sometime after 1950 Alexander returned to Aberdeen and married a lady called "Betty".
My friend visited her father in Aberdeen 1972/3 She thought his date of birth was 26th April 1929 but Scotlandspeople could not find a match with the info I gave them.
I have purchased this marriage certificate. Scotlandspeople.
4th Aug. 1928 St. Nicholas Church Aberdeen.
Alexander Smith 26 Loco Stoker f. Alexander Sutherland Smith dec. Royal Navy Stoker.
Jane Lynch 28 Warehouse Assistant f. James Lynch Iron Dresser.
I think the following information relates to their son. (Who could be the person I am looking for)
Alexander James Smith marries Elizabeth Janet Riddell 1956 Leslie Aberdeen.
Electoral Reg. Aberdeen
Alexander J Smith Elizabeth J. Smith 68 Ferryhill Road Aberdeen 1957
Alexander J Smith Elizabeth J. Smith 48 Balmoral Road Aberdeen 1964-1973 (This could fit daughters visit in 1972/3).
Alexander J Smith d.1995 Insch Aged 66 mmn Lynch.
Elizabeth J. Smith d. 2016 Inverurie mmn Copland.
From Scotland & N. Ireland death index.
Mrs. Elizabeth J Betty Smith b. 8th Aug 1927 d. 1 Aug. 2016 Insch aged 89 years. (Her parents died Insch)
I don't want to waste anyone's time, I have researched all the Smith, Lynch and Riddell families I have mentioned.
What I am asking for is any ideas you might have to help me to prove this theory one way or the other.
My only thought is to purchase Smith/Riddell m.c. to see if he is a batchelor or divorced. etc.
Sorry such a drawn out tale and thankyou for reading.
Welly x
