A surprising coincidence
« on: Tuesday 20 February 24 18:03 GMT (UK) »
I have known for sometime that my ancestor James Minton, was involved along with his brother in law in 1804, in removing a page from the Longford parish records re: the baptism of William Tatlow. I had noted this but done nothing further.
I was looking through Longford Parish registers trying to sort out Goodall relatives, when to my surprise there  was the affidavit of Thomas Sutton (another relative) relating to the crime.
This has sparked my interest and I will now be seeing if I can find out why (money was involved) but I would like to know the outcome. both the criminal charges and the disposal of the estate.

This reminds me of 'The Woman in White' by Wilkie Collins - the plot has someone hiding their identity by removing a page from a parish register.

Good luck
