Probably NOT the right place, however -

Mousehole Forge is at Malin Bridge, Hillsborough, Sheffield.  It was a water-powered anvil-making forge on the R. Rivelin.  Further information available if required.

Arrier, welcome to Rootschat.

If she was born Betty Preston there is a baptism in Bolton by Bowland 1801.  Although now in Lancashire before 1974 it was part of West Yorkshire.  There is a place called Cow House Hill near Bolton by Bowland, maybe misheard by the enumerator. Unfortunately baptism record does not give an abode for the family.

Preston does seem to be her maiden name, based on birth entries in the GRO index for the younger children. The most likely marriage seems to have been in Colne in 1820, with her residence being given as "this chapelry".

I haven't found a definite birthplace for her, but my gut feeling is that it will be somewhere in that area, and Pinetree's suggestion will be worth following up. The word in the Blind etc column could be part of the place name, put there for lack of room, and I think it might be Craven, either abbreviated or cut off in the filming/copying. However, would Bolton by Bowland be thought part of Craven? Wouldn't (Forest of) Bowland be more accurate?

I would suggest
Yorkshire, Manse Hill, Craven.
What do the other censuses give for her birth date?

It is worth looking at the WP page for Craven district – it seems that the premodern extent of Craven was broad and ambiguous. There is a particularly interesting map showing the extent of Craven in the Domesday Book.

In 1861 they appear to be in Habergham Eaves (southern edge of Burnley) - RG9/3073 fo23 p11.

Betty/Elizabeth's birthplace is given as Bingley.

West Yorkshire did not exist until 1974.  This was part of the West RIDING of Yorkshire, which was a much larger place, carved up between six counties.

Hi all who replied to my not found post- Whew, hats off to you guys!.

I have looked up the reference properly this second time (tut tut!) and see that the census return I noted was entered by me as Mouse Hill Cran
The nearest to this from the replies sent to me is Manse Hill Craven. I see the word Craven as possibly abbreviated by the census officer to Cran.
Mouse can also be seen simply a misreading by me. Thank you Spelk & Co.
I am impressed!
Regards
Arrier.
